From the United States and Europe we have a large selection of prints of Christ, the saints, and religious scenes from the Bible. The earliest prints date from the 1850s and include black ink engravings and etchings, Currier and Ives hand-painted lithographs, and chromoliths.

Our nineteenth century engravings and etchings come mostly from European print houses. Also printed in Europe as well as the United States, chromoliths or color lithographs, were popular during the Victorian era and surpassed etching as the medium of mass-produced images. With the invention of offset lithography in the 1940s, the chromolith fell into decline, as the process was complex and costly. Today these high-quality popular images of the saints are much sought by collectors.

Most prints still have their original frames, including wood inlay, faux marbelized, gilt, and tramp art frames.
